Mission

Mission & Mission

The Ridgefield Park Junior-Senior High School, located in Southeast Bergen County, has been recognized as a "New Jersey Governor's School of Excellence." The school serves a student population of approximately 1,240 students in grades 7-12. A dedicated faculty and administration provide a comprehensive education to our richly diverse community. Our students represent over 80 nationalities and speak 40 different languages.

Our academic program offers students a rigorous and diverse curriculum consisting of over 140 different courses, over 70 of which are electives in the areas of Business, Fine and Performing Arts, Consumer Science, Media, World Language, Science, Social Studies, Industrial Arts, Computer Science, and Mathematics. For the aggressive college bound students, we offer ten Advanced Placement courses as well as numerous other high level academically challenging courses. Technology within the school is constantly updated to keep pace with the latest innovations in education. The school has 6 classroom computer labs and 3 mobile labs with wireless Internet access and printing capabilities. Multimedia projectors, interactive white boards, and teleconferencing capabilities round out a sound technology program.

Academically, our students'accomplishments rank with those of any across the state and across the nation. Most impressive about the accomplishments of the student body is the consistency of these accomplishments. Here are some examples; our Honors Civics students enter a nationwide competition called Project Citizen every year. They consistently place among the top three schools in the State. Every year we enter our World Language and ESL students in a well-entered poetry reading contest. Since we have been participating, our school has brought home the most awards of any school entered. Our Science League teams, especially our Biology II team, consistently places in the top 10-15% of all teams in the State. Our standardized test scores consistently rank above both the State and District Factor Grouping averages. The list of accolades goes on and on!

While we are very proud of our academic program, our top priority remains developing well-rounded young adults. Our entire faculty supports a shared mission of combining academic excellence and the development of sound body and mind so that students will be prepared to become productive members of society. The administration and faculty share in a vision to produce students who are emotionally, socially, and intellectually ready for life beyond high school. The school offers a wide array of activities and strongly encourages all students to become actively involved. We host sixty-three athletic teams, five academic teams, and over twenty clubs and activities. Students are deeply involved in the community. They must fulfill a community service requirement of thirty hours for graduation. Many students, however, well exceed that minimum.

A great emphasis is placed on kindness and caring. Numerous events are planned every year focusing on developing positive self-esteem, caring, and tolerant attitude toward others. It is our goal to make it "cool to care." We believe the student body is benefiting from the fruits of our labor. The students of Ridgefield Park Junior-Senior High School are developing as student leaders both in school and the community. We are often commended at public events for the decorum our students exhibit and the strong, positive presence they maintain. Our school environment is indicative of the commitment we have to every student attending Ridgefield Park Junior-Senior High School.

Principal,
Mr. Koenig
