MS Principal

Ms. Dyan Barbato Thiemann

Ms. Thiemann has thirty years of experience in education, with twenty years of her experience teaching middle school-aged students. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Sociology and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is a passionate leader known for her tireless work ethic. Along with her strong rapport with our parents and community, she is known as a fair, consistent and empathetic leader and has proven herself to be dedicated to the students, parents and community.

Ms. Thiemann has held various positions of leadership throughout her tenure as an educator including a supervisor of elementary education, providing quality leadership and serving as a role model for teachers. Ms. Thiemann’s responsibilities included providing new staff members with instructional planning, implementation strategies, and classroom management. She assisted with curriculum writing and resource selection. In the past, Ms. Thiemann also held the position of Teacher in Charge at Lincoln School and was the 2016 principal of the district-wide extended summer school year program. 

Most recently, Ms. Thiemann has been the District Coordinator of Community Programs, where she was instrumental in providing all stakeholders a vested interest with school and community events. She has successfully been the Path to Leadership liaison, that is a program for our middle and high school students empowering them to be leaders among their peers. Ms. Thiemann has coordinated many successful district-wide events including the annual Family Reading Night that supports our literacy curriculum. She has coordinated professional development for the staff and served on many committees to enhance the Ridgefield Park School District.

Over her career, Ms. Thiemann has received many accolades. Some of her highlights include the Governor’s Teacher of the Year award in 2007, the Teachers Fellowship Award by the Bergen County Council in 2016, and she was nominated and selected as the Teacher of the Year for the tri-state area by 106.7 radio station from over seven hundred nominees. 

Ms. Thiemann is currently serving as the Middle School Principal in our RPJSHS. She particularly enjoys forming a rapport with her students and their families. Ms. Thiemann is most noticeably known for her strong connection with the community of Ridgefield Park.
